At 13.5% in Q1, India's GDP grows at fastest pace in a year
Data released by the National Statistical Office (NSO) showed the country's GDP rose by an annual 13.5% in the April-June quarter of the current fiscal year, higher than the 4.1% in the previous quarter, but below the 20.1% recorded in the first quarter of 2021-22. The 13.5% growth was lower than the Reserve Bank of India's estimate of 16.2% for the first quarter of 2022-23.

Four years on, 20% women’s quota fully filled in most IITs
While 100 women joined IIT-Bombay in 2017, the number has touched 271 now. In case of IIT Delhi, the corresponding numbers are 90 in 2017 and 246 as per the most recently released data of 2021 admission statistics. While total students admitted at the IITs have increased from 10,988 to 16,296 between 2017 and 2021, the women population has almost tripled: 995 to 2,990.

Known risk factors behind 37% of India cancer deaths
Globally 44.4% (4.5 million) of all cancer deaths were attributable to risk factors, says the study. The estimates are based on the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk factors Report, 2019. According to the study, nearly half (50.6%) of all cancer deaths in men globally in 2019 (2.8 million) were due to known risk factors, compared with 36.3% all female cancer deaths (1.5 million) attributable to these factors.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the then undivided state of J&K had 78.4 lakh registered voters. Excluding what is now the UT of Ladakh, the number would have been 76.7 lakh.
