Over half of UAPA-accused in 18-30 age group: MHA data

Around 53% of the total 4,690 people arrested under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) between 2018 and 2020 were aged between 18 and 30, while 13 were below 18 and 10 above 60 years, the home ministry informed the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday. The number of arrests made under the anti-terror law fell by a significant 32% to 1,321 from 1,948 in 2019, though the number of convictions rose to 80 from 34 (135%), MHA stated.

Weekly Covid cases 6.5% up nationally, 37% in Delhi

Delhi registered a 37% rise in Covid cases in the week ending Sunday, breaking a three-week spell of declining infections, in a pattern of alternating rise and fall that is being seen in several other states during the current surge of the virus. Cases rose nationally for the ninth straight week, with nearly 1.37 lakh infections detected in the country in the last seven days (July 18-24), up 6.5% from the previous week. CBSE Class 12 pass percentage, number of high scorers rise compared to 2019

The number of high scorers continues to rise in the CBSE Class XII Board exams, the results of which were released on Friday. While the number has reduced from the pandemic years (2020 and 2021) when the exams were disrupted, compared to 1.3% of the total candidates who scored 95% and above in aggregate in 2019, this year the figure has zoomed to 2.3%.
