Monsoon reaches Kerala 3 days early, likely to hit Delhi around June 25
The southwest (summer) Monsoon arrived in Kerala on Sunday, three days ahead of its normal date of onset (June 1), beginning the four-month rainy season in the country, said the India Meteorological Department which has already predicted ‘normal’ and well-distributed rainfall during the season. 36 dead in every 100 accidents, severity at 20-yr high in 2020
The severity of road crashes was at 20 years’ high during 2020 when at least 36 people died in every 100 such accidents, according to a report of the road transport ministry released on Wednesday. Govt seeks to cool down steel, plastic and cement prices
The government on Saturday unveiled a series of duty cuts to cool down prices of iron and steel, coal and plastics, while promising to more than double the subsidy allocation for fertilisers to cushion the impact of the Ukraine war on farmers. Along with a reduction in import duty on iron and steel, the finance ministry also imposed import duty on a host of steel products, in a move that will benefit user industries and small-scale players that have been complaining of a massive jump in prices.

Day after SC order, Gyanvapi files shifted to district court
All files related to the Shringar Gauri-Gyanvapi mosque lawsuit were transferred to the Varanasi district court on Saturday in compliance with SC’s Friday order to shift the case from the civil judge (senior division) to the district judge. District government counsel (civil) has confirmed the shifting of files and said district judge Ajay Kumar Vishwesh will hear the case from now on. The next hearing is slated for May 23, but the points to be taken up will be stated by the court on Monday.
