The Centre on Monday accused the CBI of presenting fundamentally wrong facts regarding PSU Hindustan Zinc’s disinvestment during the Vajpayee government’s tenure and said it had misled the Supreme Court to direct registration of a fresh FIR for probe into alleged irregularities. A bench of Justices Chandrachud and Surya Kant said the SC had carefully considered the documents and investigation reports submitted by the CBI came to the conclusion that the issue required a thorough investigation.

86% students think that access to digital content brought a change

86% of Indian students think that access to digital content has changed the way they learn and 56% think that the way they study will not go back to how it was pre-pandemic. According to a survey, globally 44% of Gen Y and Gen Z respondents expect changes brought in by Covid-19 to become permanent.

Female voters up 5.1%, male 3.6% since 2019 LS polls: CEC

The number of female electors in the country has witnessed a sharper rise of 5.1% over the past three years, from 43.8 crore in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections to 46.1 crore now, as compared to the 3.6% increase in male voters from 47.3 crore to 49 crore during the same period. CEC Sushil Chandra, in a televised address on the eve of National Voters Day celebrated each year on January 25, said the strength of the total electorate in the country, as of today, stood at 95.1 crore.

No more rain, but colder days ahead, predicts IMD

The northwest and central India may not face any more wet days this week after Tuesday but the region, including Delhi-NCR, will continue to face chilly weather as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday predicted “gradual fall in minimum temperatures by 3-5 degree Celsius” over most parts of these areas during the next five days.
