After a massive gathering in Karnal against the August 28 police action on protesters, farm organisations laid siege to the mini secretariat there on Tuesday and refused to budge until the Haryana government shed its "raj-hath" (stubbornness) and acceded to their demands. 37% poor rural students not studying at all: Survey

Prolonged closure of schools since the pandemic began has had “catastrophic consequences” on children’s education, according to a new survey of 1,362 schoolkids from underprivileged homes in 15 states and UTs. The survey revealed that in rural areas, 37% of the sample students were not studying at all—it’s 19% in urban areas— and only 8% were studying online regularly. As many as 48% of the rural children surveyed were not able to read more than a few words.

Over one crore doses of anti-Covid jabs were administered on Monday - the third time in last 11 days – with Uttar Pradesh and Bihar accounting for most number of doses administered during the day.
