BJP signals it’s open to caste census, keeps eye on Nitish

BJP has signalled that it is open to the idea of a caste census without getting into specifics such as a likely timeline while keeping a wary eye on ally Nitish Kumar's attempts to raise stakes over OBC politics by calling for a caste count. The Centre is unlikely to announce a caste census in a hurry. The stalled regular census cannot be rejigged at present, given much of the process is online and altering codes is not easy.
