If no new variant strikes, 3rd Covid wave to be mild: Study

IIT researchers who predicted a nearly accurate peak of the Covid-19 second wave believe that the third wave, if at all it comes, may not be as scary as the second one as long as no new mutant which may pass through all kinds of immunity arrives on the scene. Their mathematical model suggests a rise in cases of infection this month and a peak of over 1 lakh of daily cases in October in the worst-case scenario.

Vials need ‘smart’ labels to show heat damage: Experts

The Chinese Covid-19 vaccine has an unlikely USP over others: A tiny label that can monitor heat damage. The label, better known as vaccine vial monitor, has been a part of mass vaccination such as polio drives in India because it has a heat-sensitive chemical that tells health workers if a vial was stored correctly or damaged due to exposure to heat. It is the easiest way to find out if the cold chain to store certain vaccines was maintained or not.
